Statement:
“From ordinary to extraordinary” –this has been my mantra since retaking my creative work.
My journey has been a testament to resilience and transformation. Amidst the challenges of neglect, abandonment, and social struggle in my upbringing, I found solace and potential in my innate artistic gift. This spark reignited when immigrating to the US as a teenager, giving me hope for a brighter future.
From an early age, I found myself fascinated by ink. Its promise of permanence resonates within me, deepening my appreciation for endurance among the flux of life.
Whether creating with discarded materials, or with pen on paper, my works are inspired by my surroundings, infused with the wisdom of my past, and driven by a desire to convey beauty and emotion through the simplicity of nature's elements.
I often find myself delving into the reservoir of my childhood memories, seeking to imbue my art with primordial values and guiding principles of wonder, kindness, curiosity, and courage; as well as early-life lessons and aspirations that continue to lead me today.
